Roland DG introduces new Flatbed printer

Roland DG Corporation announced a new addition to its popular VersaUV LEF2 Series of ‘Benchtop’ UV Flatbed Printers. The LEF2-300D features an expanded workspace that supports a height of up to 200 mm (7.87 inches) compared to the standard model.

The LEF2 series utilizes UV-LED lamps to instantly cure ink, and is capable of printing directly onto plastics, leather, wood, fabrics and other materials – allowing users to add ‘ultrarealistic’ graphics and simulated embossing to a broad range of items such as smartphone cases, awards, souvenirs, giftware and other accessories (including leather goods and electronic devices). With the added height, the LEF2-300D’s workspace is effectively doubled, said the OEM. This expands the potential of printing onto not only thicker materials, but also onto a wider variety of shapes by accommodating diverse sizes and types of jigs.

According to Hisashi Bito, President of Roland DG’s Digital Printing Business Division, the LEF2-300D was developed in response to customer feedback. “With the growing demand for making personalized, one-of-a-kind items and high-mix, small-lot runs, the LEF2 series helped promote on-demand printing businesses – such as creating truly unique accessories or producing customized items on the spot,” he said. “With its larger print space, the LEF2-300D further boosts customer creativity and ideas, and expands the scope of profitable business opportunities.”
