A high-profile royal visit to K 2025 has reinforced the growing strategic ties between Messe
Düsseldorf and the Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC). His Royal Highness Prince Saud
Turki Al-Faisal Al Saud, Chairman of REC, joined Wolfram N. Diener, Chairman of the
Management Board of Messe Düsseldorf, for an official handshake that marked a significant
milestone in their expanding cooperation.
The strengthened alliance aligns with the international growth strategy of Messe
Düsseldorf’s flagship trade fairs, interpack, K, and drupa, as they extend their footprint into
Saudi Arabia. The region is experiencing dynamic economic development, making it an
increasingly attractive market for global industry players.
REC will host the Saudi Plastics & Petrochem and Saudi Print & Pack exhibitions from 12–
15 April 2026, bringing together over 500 exhibitors across petrochemicals, plastics, printing,
and packaging. These events have grown rapidly, with exhibitor numbers rising nearly 70%
since 2018, offering Messe Düsseldorf strong potential for deeper engagement in the Middle
East.
This new collaboration in Riyadh strengthens Messe Düsseldorf’s global portfolio,
complementing its established alliances, K Alliance (plastics and rubber), interpack alliance
(processing and packaging), and drupa alliance (print technologies). The partnership aims to
leverage the region’s rising economic momentum, formalised earlier in 2025 through a
comprehensive memorandum of understanding.
Messe Düsseldorf is not new to the region. Since 2007, it has partnered with ArabPlast in
Dubai, and since 2019 it has expanded through interpack alliance events such as
pacprocess MEA and Food Africa Cairo, linking Africa and the Middle East. The
establishment of a new subsidiary in Turkey in 2024 further strengthened this network.
The strategic push into Saudi Arabia now represents the next logical step in Messe
Düsseldorf’s global expansion.
