Konica Minolta and Fujifilm enter into a joint venture for MFPs and Toners

Konica Minolta, Inc. and Fujifilm Business Innovation Corp. disclosed the signing of a memorandum of understanding to initiate a feasibility study for a strategic alliance within the multifunction printer (MFP), office printer, and production printer sectors.

Given the dynamic shifts within the market landscape for MFPs and printers, proactive measures are imperative. Konica Minolta and Fujifilm Business Innovation are actively exploring a potential business alliance to fortify their business infrastructure, which includes enhancing the development of a robust supply system for their products. Additionally, both companies are exploring opportunities to expand their network of business alliances and are engaged in ongoing discussions to this end.

The potential partnership aims to achieve several key objectives:

Optimizing procurement: By establishing a joint venture to streamline the procurement process for raw materials and parts, both companies intend to enhance efficiency in their supply chain management. The tentative timeline for establishing this joint venture is set for the second quarter of FY2024.

Enhancing toner development and production: Focusing on strengthening their business foundation, the partnership seeks to bolster the development and production of toner, thereby ensuring a reliable and efficient supply system for their products.

Exploring other business alliances: In addition to the primary objectives, discussions and agreements pertaining to other strategic collaborations will be addressed separately. This includes exploring opportunities for further partnerships that align with the overarching goals and vision of both Konica Minolta and FUJIFILM Business Innovation.
