NEW ON THE BLOCK
Xaar Fast-Tracks Inkjet Adoption with New Flexible Fluid Development Process

Xaar, one of the global leaders in industrial inkjet printheads and technology, has unveiled a significantly enhanced fluid development and optimisation process designed to help manufacturers and OEMs fast-track their inkjet system development, reduce upfront costs, and accelerate innovation.

Built on Xaar’s deep expertise in printhead engineering and its exceptional capability to handle complex inkjet fluids, the new process provides a flexible, scalable pathway for customers at any stage of development. Whether choosing from Xaar’s expanding library of pre-approved fluids or developing their own formulations with dedicated waveform support, customers now have a faster and more efficient route to market.

The strengthened process focuses on reducing risk at the earliest stages. By enabling early fluid verification and minimising initial capital investment, it shortens development cycles and supports the creation of high-performance, disruptive solutions. Xaar’s proven ability to jet fluids with high viscosity, heavy particle loading, or larger particle sizes further accelerates progress for advanced and emerging applications, areas where inkjet technology is quickly expanding.

The new process supports three key pathways for development. The quickest route is to choose from a portfolio of pre-approved fluids, each supplied with tailored waveforms and confirmed compatibility with Xaar printheads. These fluids have already been optimised for a range of applications, allowing for rapid system integration.

Across all three pathways, Xaar provides optional development kits and printed samples to demonstrate achievable output quality. Ongoing consultancy ensures stability, repeatability, and consistent performance throughout the development cycle.

One early adopter, Inkatronic, has already benefited from the updated process, using it to fast-track its inkjet project while reducing overall system complexity.

With this enhanced approach, Xaar is not only simplifying the adoption of industrial inkjet but also unlocking exciting new possibilities for manufacturers looking to innovate at speed.

Mikael Boedler, Head of New Business Development at Inkatronic said, “Xaar’s support was outstanding. We were able to work closely with Xaar’s R&D team and the pre-developed waveforms significantly reduced our testing time, saving us months of work.”

By using Nazdar’s pre-approved water-based high viscosity fluids and Xaar’s in-house print trials, Inkatronic was able to validate print performance for its wood panel application in under a month, without upfront investment.

“This streamlined approach helped us deliver samples to our customers faster and with greater confidence. We were genuinely surprised by how quickly Xaar scaled from R&D to testing and we’re already exploring more applications using their technology,” adds Boedler.

Graham Tweedale, COO at Xaar, said, “We understand how crucial speed, performance and cost are when developing new inkjet systems. Our new fluid development and optimisation process is designed to give customers the flexibility and tools they need to innovate faster and reduce risk, whilst remaining in control.”
