NEW ON THE BLOCK
Mimaki Introduces AP50 Aqueous Pigment Ink for Sign Graphics

Mimaki has announced the release of its newly developed AP50 aqueous pigment ink for sign graphics applications. The ink will be introduced with Mimaki’s high-speed sublimation transfer inkjet printer, the Tiger600-1800TS, with commercial availability scheduled from February 2026.

The new ink–printer combination is designed to deliver consistent, high-quality and vivid output, making it well suited for volume production of short-term applications such as posters, point-of-purchase (POP) displays and promotional graphics.

The Tiger600-1800TS, known for its exceptional performance in sublimation transfer printing, is now evolving to serve a wider segment of the graphics industry. Built with advanced proprietary image-processing technology and a high-speed drive printhead, the system has earned strong recognition for delivering both high productivity and outstanding image quality in textile printing.

With the introduction of the newly developed AP50 aqueous pigment ink, the press now extends its capabilities to the poster, signage, and POP graphics market, bringing its signature speed and visual refinement to new applications.

The new AP50 ink has been engineered specifically to maximize the Tiger600-1800TS’s performance. It offers vibrant colour reproduction, excellent drying characteristics, and sharp, smudge-resistant output. With exceptional saturation, particularly in the red spectrum, the ink is ideal for high-impact visuals such as campaign graphics, promotional displays, and food posters where colour intensity and visibility are key.

Designed for high-volume environments, the system features 10-kg ink tanks for each CMYK colour, supporting long production runs and reducing ink costs per square metre. The standard RIP software includes an Ink Save Function that intelligently adjusts ink consumption according to the application, enabling more economical production of large-format posters and POP materials.

Composed primarily of water, AP50 is also on track to secure GREENGUARD Gold certification, contributing to safer and more comfortable print production environments.

With AP50 onboard, the Tiger600-1800TS delivers high-speed, vivid, and stable output ideal for advertising and urban display applications. Its practical production speed of 220 sqm/h (2,368 sqft/h) ensures exceptional productivity, while the advanced media transport system minimizes wrinkles and supports consistent, high-quality mass production.
